I've experimented with suggestions I found online for improving the flavor, but I am still disappointed. If I'd known how disappointing the taste would be, I would not have purchased the item. A very well thought out pod maker, holds about a pint of coffee in a sealed pull-out drawer, 50 filters in a spring-loaded dispenser, and has hooks to hang the included steel measuring spoon and filter snap top. Super simple function and easy to understand. The disposable kcup filling can be pick up relatively cheap, 400 for $20, and coffee ground can be pick up for $15 from wholesale place as bulk. Then im basically set for whole year on the kcup and 6 month on coffee ground. Compare with paying $25 to 30/month buying expensive kcup, thats at least $150 saving. The design is beautiful as well. Overall, I think its worth the storage space and the convenience.

What a practical little station! You have everything you need here to make your own k-cup (or similar) coffee pods. Finally, I can have the coffee I personally love (I’m very picky) in k-cups to use in my Keurig! Fresh ground coffee beans instantly! YES!!! I'm very glad I ordered this coffee pod maker. It is so easy to use with my Keurig. You don't have to remove the insert to use these pods like the "my K cup" that comes with the machine. Now the first time I used it I was a little disappointed because I ended up with a lot of coffee grinds in my cup but I noticed that I didn't have the filter caught enough in the lid so water came out the side of the filter under the lid. Since then I've been making sure I have plenty filter snapped into the lid and I have no problems. It works great and is so very easy to use. I store the extra lids in the drawer instead of coffee....the drawer is a bit small. A must have if you have a Keurig and still like to use regular coffee, not k-cups.

I have a Keurig and the save pod works great. However there was a learning curve… I took out the pod holder (like I do to use my reusable pod) in the Keurig and placed the save pod in. Well water went every where. So just an fyi unlike a reusable pod you leave the pod holder in and then it will work perfectly. I’m not sure why other Keurig users are having problems but this one was mine, I hope it helps someone out.

I own and have used plenty of "reusable" K-cup pods ever since they came out and since Keurig decided to play ball properly and not block their use. I generally despise them because they are messy to clean, messy to load, I frequently get grounds in my coffee when using them, and generally require more work than I am willing to go through (Keurig coffee is supposed to be fast and convenient; when I want super quality coffee, I V60 my cup). Yes, those are all likely user errors, but if you aren't going to design your product to minimize the better idiot using it, it's not getting my time. I'm not in the business of hacking every product I spend money on - most times I just want them to work right out of the box. This doesn't answer ALL those problems, but it certainly answers some of them. So far, I am really liking this device, though it's not perfect. Out of the box I was disappointed with the instructions. Don't make me scan a QR code to get the full instructions, which the language on the box made me think I was going to have to do. I am in the data security business, and I'm sorry, but you don't have anywhere near enough of my trust to scan your QR code. Stop assuming that just because you say you're sending me somewhere that you should have my trust that you're actually sending me there and not to a bot farm setup to steal information. Bad form. Thankfully, the included instruction sheet was clear enough I didn't feel the need to scan the QR code. Aside from the QR code, the failure of the instruction booklet is the assumption that "2 - 2.5 scoops" is a measurement. It isn't. Yes, a scoop is provided, but that's not sufficient in the coffee world and it hasn't been for a decade or more. You need to give us more information. For instance, my initial testing has been done with Folgers Black Silk. I had it around and didn't have to sacrifice any of my more expensive beans to do my initial test runs. It tastes good enough and gave me a baseline, so stop shaking your head with a coffee snobbery lifted eyebrow :-). Bottom line -- you're not fitting 2.5 scoops of Black Silk into this pod without serious tamping. You can barely fit 2 scoops, and I don't recommend that, really, as it ends up well above the imaginary "fill line" the instruction sheet shows (and doesn't actually appear on the filter) so you end up having to strain the lid closed. Functionally it was okay, no grounds got out, but it was clearly not an ideal situation given what the instructions say to do. This problem I believe could be remedied with a table of rough grind size and capacity of the filter (I know grind size isn't universal, but people who grind coffee every day are going to have some inkling as to their specific grinder's settings up against generic terms indicating size). The Black Silk is a medium to fine grind; not espresso, but finer than I would use in my V60, for instance. Average filter / drip coffee drinkers might not put that much science into their coffee, but there are a lot of people out there who do, and who still use pod coffee makers too. The more information you provide, the broader spectrum of customer you're going to find willing to use your device. Even if it were just a "coffee nerds" page on your website that gave some information on testing you've done with different grind sizes it would be a much more informative and helpful approach to us coffee nerds. I looked at the FAQ on the manufacturer website, and in their question about the drawer, they maintain "Our coffee drawer will hold roughly 140 grams of coffee. This is enough to make approximately 12 savepods". That comes out to 11.67g of coffee per serving. There is no way at a medium or medium to fine grind you're getting 11.67g of coffee into this pod. In my initial test runs where I forced the lid to close I had 9.4g of coffee and it was too much (for this particular grind). I did some light tamping with the scoop to get that in, too, just to see if it could easily be pushed down to the "max fill" line, and I don't recommend that. If you push too hard you'll end up pushing the filter through the ring and you'll have a nice mess on your hands. Given the success of my initial tests, I'm going to grind some Kona beans at my normal V60 grind size and see how that works out - I'll update with any significant findings.. To get to the imaginary max fill line I think you're not going to get more than 8 - 8.5g of ground coffee into the filter and still make the lid close properly. I never had any issue with the filter not laying flat or getting it into the Keurig once closed. The L/R indicators are a nice clever solution to the fact pods actually are supposed to go in a specific way and was quite helpful. I had no mess with this at all, really. I managed to spill slightly on my first pour from the scoop, but that's a user error you're only designing around with a funnel probably. I have not always experienced that in a non-closed system pod. This was a huge positive point for me, especially when it comes to disposal and cleanup. I can take the pod out of the K, take it to my Lomi composter and just drop it in, giving the ring a nice little rinse and I'm done. No plastic in the landfill and I'm using coffee I know I will enjoy drinking once I dial in the grind size appropriately. I'm not going to store coffee in the drawer, though it definitely does seem to be air tight. I grind everything from bean at time of brew these days, but my wife might want to use it that way. Right now I'm using it to store the extra rings and the scoop. I like that there are hooks for the ring and scoop, but we're provided with more accessories than hooks, so that's a bit of a design flaw, IMO. This could have been solved with a lateral holder for the scoop above the current hooks or just a different way of placing the hooks entirely, like maybe one on front for the scoop or something. I do think that the filter holder is a genius design element. So many appliances today have these massive wastes of space surrounded by plastic, and this uses that dead space perfectly. Storing these oddly shaped little filters would not have been easy, so having that sitting right there with spring tension helps increase the Savepod's ability to earn countertop space. There was one review on this since I've done my initial tests, and I'm not sure if the writer is just unfamiliar with the idea of search or what. There are many options that show up when you search for "savepod filters" including replacement rings. I would have liked these to be available on their Shop page, but if I can get them on Amazon it's not a problem. As far as the plastic wearing, I'm not sure given how new this is to the market he could have possibly had a problem with plastic wear at this point, unless he just sat around rubbing it like Gollum does the One Ring as a fidget toy or something. Is this the most sturdy and long-lasting appliance on my countertop? No, but it doesn't have moving parts aside from the spring to hold the filters and the drawer sliding out. There's really nothing to wear out here, so I don't know what the person is talking about. This is a simple solution to a problem many pod brewer owners have wanted for a long time. No cleanup like reusable filters force us into, but not having to populate landfills with plastic cups or buy outrageously expensive "compostable" versions of the same. This is inexpensive and gives us new choices. This little device is going to increase my single cup brewer usage pretty dramatically, I think. Very well done, and highly recommend. Work out some of the coffee nerd issues for version 2.0 and you might have a perfect product.

This is a nice alternative to the plastic k cups that get loaded over and over. I generally don't drink a lot of coffee but those in my household do. We've tried the plastic refillable k cups but those breakdown as well from cleaning, the mesh starts to break down and the plastic tops are prone to breaking as plastic breaks down eventually, it's plastic. I can see the same issue happening here with the cap hinges but overall I'm loving this machine and not feeling as bad about throwing the pods away.

I have a few of the filter sleeves that you get for the larger Kcups that can hold enough for a carafe. These will lock onto those also and let me make a full pot of coffee and then just toss the paper into the compost. The bottom drawer is ok to hold the extra rings and the scoop but the idea I'm going to set coffee in there to go bad is silly. This is a great solution to using your Keruig and not filling the trash with plastic.

I love my Keurig, can't imagine life without it. What I don't love is the plastic waste. Our community does not support recycling, so reducing single use plastic is something I've really been trying to do. With this little gadget, it is so much easier! The paper pods are compostable. The plastic rings are reusable. Super easy to fill a pod and use it. Will say that the rings require a lot of force for me to close the lid of my Keurig, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. I also will not keep coffee in the drawer, I keep it in a sealed jar nearby, but the drawer is great for storing the extra rings and manual. I'm so glad someone came up with this little gadget. I feel better now when using my Keurig multiple times a day.

I suppose its a matter of semantics, but I would not classify this as a "pod maker" because one is not making a pod per se Its just paper filters that is secured by a plastic holder and in no way resembles a kcup, however, I realize my opinions in this regard do not matter much. This "maker" I believe is a niche item and if one is worried about the plastic in landfills, you will LOVE this product. It works just as it suggests it will. You place paper filter in the holder, fill it with coffee and place in the coffee maker. There is really nothing here that will make it FAIL...so you get that tasty cup of coffee that you want. Cleaning is easy as you just throw away the filter and rinse the top. As for VALUE? I think its expensive for what you get. For one third of this price, I can already purchase a refillable metal kcup replacement that does the same thing and does not take up any space on my counter. The NEED for this product will depend on each persons likes, needs, and willingness to purchase. I personally do not see the need, but HEY, I just might be in the minority here so take my opinions with a grain of salt.

I've tested this a number of times now by making my own pods with the filters and each time my Keurig machine at the office (K-155 model) leaks water all around the bottom spout. The coffee that gets made tastes like it's watered down. Nice concept, but not very good execution. After contacting the seller, he indicated that the K-155 is not a compatible machine to use with this pod maker. I took it home and used it on my regular home Keurig machine and it works fine on my home machine but the coffee still tastes slightly watered down but still acceptable cup of coffee. Just make sure your Keurig model number is listed as a compatible device when you buy this product.
